High Country Raptors Education / Rehabilitation
Live Birds of Prey Demonstrations
at The Arboretum at Flagstaff
Come face to face with hawks, owls, falcons and other raptors at The
Arboretum every day from April-October. Educational programs take
place at 12:00 and 2:00 p.m. each day at the outdoor amphitheater..
Programs include "on the fist" demonstrations and dramatic "free flight"
shows.
Programs are provided in conjunction with High Country Raptors, a local
non-profit organization that rehabilitates wild birds.
Hawk Walks
Experience live birds of prey up close and personal on a winter Hawk Walk. Licensed falconers will work
with small groups of four to eight participants to teach them the natural history of the raptors and the role
they play in our environment. Basics of the ancient sport of falconry will also be covered as well as the
environmental concerns facing these beautiful birds. The guided excursion will lead you around The
Arboretum gardens with many opportunities to handle live birds of prey with close supervision.
The fee per participant is $35 for Arboretum members and $45 for non-members. Payment must be
made in full in advance to secure your place in the program.
Please call (928) 774-1442, ext.110 or email Rachel Edelstein at Rachel.Edelstein@nau.edu to make a
reservation.
